Brainstorm Ideas
To find our idea for the opening scene we had to produce brainstorms for each idea to see if they would work out in a opening scene. The first idea talks about a group of apprentices from the MI5 get chosen to go and disband a cult. We came to this idea because most of our target audience wanted to see protagonists at their age group and that most people who enjoy thrillers watch the films where the protagonists work for a government organisation like the MI5. The settings that we choose was the Houses of Parliament and in the woods of a park, we choose these locations becuase they really do represent what the film will be about and we want the locations to stand out because it is original and unique.
The second idea is when someone has flashbacks on the tube about seeing their friend getting killed in the woods by someone and they couldn't catch this person so all they do is think about what happens everyday. We used this idea because most thrillers include the protagonist not being able to solve the death of someone close to them and then they suddenly get help to solve it. Also we want the titles to be going on whilst the event is happening because that is one of the conventions of an opening scene.
The final idea is the story of a normal person but the only thing different about him is the fact that he does drug and he doesn't pay one of his bills and then he gets chased by the bad people who want their money. We thought of this idea because it has a very interesting twist to it and the thriller aspect the film, when the protagonist is hunted by the drug dealers, would make the film really intriguing and will keep the audiences interested for the whole film.
